Then on the 17th December The Irish paper Kilkenny People exclusively revealed he had signed a two and a half year contract. Who needs Sky Sports News when you have the Kilkenny People?

He was spotted sitting behind Sam Alladyce at the West Ham v Liverpool match

We covered his signing on our Christmas Special Moore Than Just A Podcast on the 20th December http://moorethanjustapodcast.podbean.com/2012/12/20/season-2-episode-15-a-christmas-special/

Even the player himself got ahead of the UK media and the club's official announcement by announcing on twitter under @Seani_Maguire_irthat he had signed for West ham on New year's day!

Sean Maguire led Waterford United’s promotion charge in the Airtricity League last season by scoring 13 goals to secure second place for them. He  impressed  West Ham club officials on a two-week trial.

Maguire who also played schoolboy football with Evergreen,  Deen Celtic and Ormonde Villa came to prominence when he scored a hat-trick for the Kilkenny & District League in the Youth All-Ireland final against Cork in 2011.

He also plays International Football for Ireland Under 19's despite being born in Luton

Lets hope Tony Carr and Big Sam can develop his potential so he ends up the real deal!

Here is his goal on youtube for the Irish U19's
